Century City Hillside Garden 2

This 1930s mock Tudor stands on a gentle slope like a British manor house, surrounded by a decidedly Southern California take on an English country garden. The front yard features drought-tolerant plantings, including a grove of Catalina ironwoods and the maroon accent tree Forest Pansy redbud, with its showy purple blossoms in springtime. Flowers consist of Platinum Beauty lomandra, purple and white yarrows, and different iris and clematis varieties.

The parkway rain gardens are shaded by native sycamores and underplanted with Berkeley sedge and the cheerful white-flowered yerba mansa.
